Makeup Revolution Haul 2022 | Full Purchase Breakdown & Ratings!

Makeup Revolution is the budget friendly makeup brand that keeps on giving. Not content with just being a 1 trick pony, no sirrr, they have multiple spin-off brands such as "Revolution Pro" , "Makeup Obsession" , "I Heart Revolution" to name just a few, whilst collabing with the likes of Soph(does life) and most recently, Sali Hughes for Revolution's latest project, a super affordable skincare range. They collab not only with influencers and gurus, they even collab with the most quirkiest of things... Fancy some powerpuff Girls inspired makeup my fellow 90's baby's?

They literally have most of the makeup stands in your local Superdrug store it's insane, and you bet it's always the prettiest... but are they all looks and no substance? Here's what I thought about my recent haul!

(I have previously reviewed a few I Heart Revolution products in the past babe, which you can find the review for here:

The Review

Walking into Superdrug it's pretty hard to avoid the temptation of their products. They are aesthetically pleasing, super affordable but also, look very alike some well known higher end products (CT vibes anyone?) and I'm the first to admit, I LOVE a good dupe product!

I chose to do a cheeky wee online haul with them on this occasion as I feel their shade range is more accessible online and it's much easier to find a good match, too.

Quite the dolly mixture we got here huns! Some collabs, some sub brands and the trusty OG branded items- shall we unpack?

Revolution 'Pro' Goddess Glow Shimmer Brick Bronzer

Considering this costs only £10, the packaging looks and feels so high end it's actually mind blowing. How do they do it?? The outer packaging felt great and secure and once unboxed it's the kind of makeup product you would absolutely want on show on your vanity because of how good it looks! Inside the compact is another treat entirely.

You can tell by only looking at the bronzer before you even swatch, the pigment that lies within like, do you ever just look at makeup that looks so buttery and smooth and want to lick it or is that like, weird??

Swatching this did NOT disappoint OH.MY.GOD. The pigment for me, is so rich and 100% up there with one of the best bronzer blocks I've ever swatched. The swatch images are just from 1 stroke!! It's so buttery and pigmented I can not deal. The glow as well honey, they were not messin' when they called this the goddess palette because that she is,

Bronzer bricks aren't everyones cup of tea, I don't like tea tbf but I do love a bronzer brick! For me, it's just such an accessible product to have in your kit, especially high quality pay off bricks like this one. They enable you to contour, bronze your cheeks. A well made bronzing brick can enable you to single out the highlight parts for your cheekbones to get your highlight blinding and you can even create a beaut bronzed smokes eye look.

I brought this beauty with me to an overnight in the capital and I couldn't get enough of it- and I promise you, neither will you.

"The Matrix" Cosmetic Sponge Set - Trio!

Now don't shoot a gal, but i have never seen any matrix films... is that bad?? However, these sponges were on sale from £10 down to £5 and with each blending sponge being different shaped making it useful for different makeup application needs, it was a total barg!

The packaging was amazing I loved the amount of detail they went into, Revolution don't do their collabs half ars*d! The packaging was completely recyclable which is sure to be a win, and it looked so playful. Even if you have never seen any of the films, it's hard to not get caught up in the aesthetic of this packaging regardless.

Each sponge had it's own identity with it's shape, but also had it's own wee engraved detailing on each sponge (if you're familiar with the franchise however, these will probably mean more to you!) which was pretty cool even if I didn't truly appreciate it!

Sadly for me, the sponges and me weren't destined to. be besties. I just couldn't seem to get them to "work" ? They feel well crafted and made but when I added water it just seemed to leave gaps in my makeup as opposed to the seamless finish I was going for. I'm gutted tbh as the black sponge especially would have made a killer contour blender. I refuse to give up, maybe it's just my skin atm? But I feel doubtful.

Conceal & Hydrate Foundation

Ugh. Let's talk about Revolution's mega budget friendly foundations now ok. My first foundation of theirs I ever tried was their "conceal and glow" foundation and it's still to this day, one of my favourites. It's that foundation for me that we all have, you know that one where we experiment with different foundations but always seem to find our way back to it? Yup! Romance isn't dead guys!

They have a few new additions to their ever expanding fam since I purchased my other one when it first dropped, and the conceal and hydrate addition appealed to me the most. Let's be real, aren't we all seeking that ultra flawless coverage that also hydrates our skin and makes us feel a 20 out of 10?? Retailing at only £9, I do not even need to tell you how much of a barg this is for the size of the product you get!

All of their foundations are glass bottles and have a trusty pump dispenser, I've honestly had zero issues with my other Revolution foundation pump in terms of leakage etc and I don't expect this one to be any different. As per their usual high standard, the pump dispenses evenly and doesn't produce too much product. it's also of a slightly thicker consistency when dispensed, as opposed to higher end foundations like Luminous Silk which can be really runny regardless of how hard you shake it beforehand (like you literally have to run to apply it before it drips off- never cute!)

I purchased the shade F9.5 which was a darker shade to my previous F8 however, I just felt like this would be a much better fake tanning shade match and I was sooo right! I highly recommend going into the 9's for all my fake tanning gals out there. I've worn this foundation on 2 occasions now and the finish is flawless each time. This is undeniably a full coverage foundation but also builds like an absolute DREAM! I've worn this during the day and layered over at night and there was zero cakeyness or separation. My skin looked so healthy wearing this foundation despite the fact I'm currently suffering a bad acne breakout atm. It's like, you know when a foundation has the ability to make your spots look good? THIS IS THAT FOUNDATION! And for just £9? GURLLLL

Maffashion Brow Pencil

I feel like I am forever searching for the perfect brow pencil that also has the perfect price to match! My favourite atm is actually from Shein's she-glam range however, with their delivery times not making it the most accessible when you run out, I'm looking for a product I can love just as much, if not more.

When I seen this brow pencil what I loved was it was a 2-in-1 design, On 1 end you had your slanted pencil and the other a brow

This pencil is actually a 2-in-1, which I found strange it isn't advertised as such given it's more than just a pencil. On 1 end is your brow pencil and the other is a brow gel and for £5 I'd say that's extremely cheap. I purchased the shade 'Medium Brown' as I like a bold but, buildable brow.

Compared to other Revolution products, I guess you could argue the design is a bit more basic but I guess we can thank Benefit for leaving us with high brow packaging standards! I did like the shape of this product which is probably really odd to say but I just think it stands out and is easily located in my makeup drawer due to it's edges.

The brow pencil wasn't the best thing ever and it isn't the thinnest of tips so if you are after thin strokes this perhaps won't be for you however, if you're after a defined arch-to-tail and a combed through/ombre brow at the front - courtesy of the gel side - I'd definitely recommend this gem. With this product, you get what you pay for, really, and it's definitely more aimed at us bolder brow crew or for full glam looks.

Illuminating Under-Eye Concealer

When I seen this eye brightening concealer it reminded me of It Cosmetics who have a similar eye illuminator. The packaging is very beautiful, very sleak. It's sturdy which is what you want but does have some leakage if you twist too much product up at once and then put the lid back on without using all the product on the foam applicator.

This has a twist bottom and did take a wee bit of graft to kick start the concealer but similar to the Maybelline instant eraser, once the product is through to the foam top it's fine.

I purchased the shade 'Fair' as for me a brightening concealer should be just that- bright! I wanted it to contrast against my foundation for an under-eye highlight effect, but to also be used on it's own for no makeup days to brighten my under eye area, too.

At time of writing this I'm still unsure on what I think about this product. As you can see from the swatch test, it is thick as opposed to runny which is obviously a major plus however, I find it difficult to blend when on the skin. I feel like it's too thick and is missing a little something to make it more blendable, which is a shame as everything else is there and with it retailing at only £8, it could have had great potential to become a staple.

'Super Dewy' Liquid Blush

I purchased this liquid blush in the shade 'Flushing For You' which is a beautiful coral-pink shade which compliments a naturally casper the sassy ghost complexion perfectly! If, like me, you're naturally cursed with being on the pale side, coral-pink hues are your bestie!

I go to the gym around 4 days a week, and whilst I don't get glammed up going there, I do like to have a little something on to make me feel a bit more put together! For me, I always style my brows, apply a light blush, little bit of bronzer (if my neck is tanned) and some days a slick of mascara. I've been searching for the perfect liquid blush for a while and stumbled upon this at only £5 with great reviews!

The packaging is simple but has Revolutions signature rose gold theme to it which instantly gives even the most basic of their packaging a more luxe feel. The tube has a squeeze tip nozzle applicator and distributes just enough product!

I love the colour of this it's definitely true to the online swatch and outer packaging and when the light reflects has a slight gold sheen to it. It has a liquid-to-satin/powder feel when it is applied to the cheeks which could make it difficult to blend if pairing with foundation, especially powder foundations. I found it best to apply this with my fingers first and then blending in with a damp beauty sponge.

Friends X Revolution Eyeshadow Palette

Again with these killer collabs! They really do go all in with their feature products and for the budget price point too?? It's insaneee! Even if you aren't a huge friends fan, you will still appreciate the beauty and detailing of this palette, I think they 100% did the aesthetic justice do you agree?? The shades are even friends referenced! It's so visually stunning.

I opted for the "We're on a break" palette as the colours are my usual spring/summer eye shades and with it being on sale from £12 down to an extremely cool £3.60 what's not to love?! Absolute barg.

Performance wise, ugh. I feel like it's missing the 'usual' Revolution quality we see in their other palettes. I wore the pink shade out and whilst the colour looked nice in the pan, it did apply patchy, as opposed to a similar shade/s I own from my Makeup Obsession 'Kisses' palette which are so pigmented and a dream to apply despite being matte. I feel like this palette could have been a lot better than it is.

At full price, it's still debatably amazingly priced as a somewhat collectable item however, compared to their other ranges and eye palettes in general, it sadly just doesn't hit the same benchmark we love them for. The pigments just feel for me like they're on the Sahara dry side of matte which probably explains the patchy application and just doesn't look cute in general. I'm gutted as the neon shades had so much potential! Big sad face;

Final Opinion

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Despite some disappointment in this haul (over flexible sponges we talkin' to you) I'd say it was still really successful! The foundation and the goddess brick especially, are already becoming firm staples in my makeup routine and I can not sing their praises ENOUGH! I've been reaching for the brow pencil side of the Maffashion pencil and I actually am reaching for it more and more, especially on days I want to keep my face more subtle glam but with a bad bitch brow, it's amazing for defining that arch and tail with ease, something that can be difficult with more micro-pencils. I don't regret this haul at all tbh, I'm so glad I did it- Yayyy for good hauls!!
